The man who rises to the national post from Mayor of Makati City (more than 20 years of service) to Vice President of the Philippines.
He became an orphan at the age of 9 and was adopted by his uncle. He pursue his studies from Philippine Normal College for his elementary, University of the Philippines (UP) Preparatory School for his High School, UP as Bachelor of Arts Major in Political Science for his College Degree, UP College of Law for his Bachelor of Law, UP for his Master's Degree in Public Administration and University of Santo Tomas for his Master's Degree in Law.
In February 1986, he became the Mayor of Makati by appointment of then President Cory Aquino after Mayor Nemesio Yabut died while in office during the EDSA Revolution. He was elected in 1988 and continue to serve for 3 terms until 1998. He became the Mayor of Makati again for 3 terms from 2001 to 2010.
In 2010, he run for the position of Vice President of the Philippines against the leading favorite Mar Roxas of Liberal Party (LP). Mar Roxas was the leading candidate for the position of the Vice President. However, it was overturned at the last week of campaign due to the help of Escudero's endorsement of NoyBi (Noynoy - Binay tandem for President and Vice President). It boost the popularity of Jejomar Binay and he takes the lead and won the election as the Vice President of the Philippines.
Today however, he is currently accused of many corruption during his term as a Mayor of Makati by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. Especially the Makati City Building II Overpriced.
